About the Directors

Mr. Hennessy

Mr. Sutton Hennessy:

Greetings! My name is Sutton Hennessy aka “Baldman” and I am super excited to be a part of the Wildcat Band Family. I graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelors of Arts in Music with my Instrument of study as the Saxophone and a focus on woodwind instruments. I have been teaching for 11 years. 3 years as an elementary school Music teacher, 5 years as a Middle School Choral / Theater Director, and 2 years here at Callisburg as the Assistant Band Director and 1 year as the Head Director. I am proud of all the accomplishments and growth we have made here at Callisburg so far and I am very excited to see how we can continue to be amazing in our art of music. I hope we can continue to work together in making our band program amazing in every way possible!

Mr. Johnathan Byrd

My name is Johnathan Byrd, and I am beyond excited to join the Wildcat Band Family as your new Assistant Band Director! I graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a degree in Music, and my primary instrument is the mighty tuba—so yes, I’m used to holding things down from the bottom up! While I may be new to teaching, I’m no stranger to the power of music and the magic of a strong band family. I believe band is about more than just performance—it's about people. It’s about showing up for one another, growing together, and creating something bigger than ourselves. I believe excellence isn't just about how well we play, but how we treat each other, how we support each other, and how we rise together. When someone struggles, we don’t leave them behind—we lift them up. We are more powerful when we empower each other. That’s the kind of band I’m proud to be a part of, and I’m so thankful to be stepping into a community that already lives that out every day. I’m excited to learn alongside you, laugh a lot, and make some seriously great music together. Can’t wait to get started—let’s make this year unforgettable!
